KERALA TRADITIONAL VANPAYAR KUMBALAM ERISSERY

Ingredients :

Cut pieces of raw banana – 2 no’s

Yam-1/2 cup

Grated coconut -1 Cup

Chickpea – 100 g

Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Green chilli -3 no’s

Coconut oil – 2 tsp

Red chilli- 2 -3 no’s

Small onion – 2 no’s

Curry leaves    

Salt to taste

Method of preparation :

Heat some water in a cooker into that put chickpea for 3-4 whistle

Next, open the cooker and add cut pieces of raw banana and yam Cover the and cook for some more time.

 After this uncover the vessel and add grated coconut, chillies, salt and stir it well. If required add some water.

In another Kadai for seasoning take some oil and add the chopped pieces of a small onion, curry leaves, red chilli and stir gently. Then, add this to the Koottu Kari preparation already cooked and kept aside.
